Frequently Asked Questions

  • Permanent jewelry is most simply described as a custom fit, claspless bracelet, anklet or necklace.

You choose your favorite chain, it is measured to fit exactly as you would like, and it is then welded together for seamless, everyday wear.

  • Permanent jewelry can last for years — even indefinitely — as long as the chain is given proper care.

  • You won’t feel a thing! We use only the highest quality welders and equipment to ensure safe and quality welds. The process is completely painless!

  • Yes, we do require appointments in our studio, unless otherwise advertised.

Appointments are not required for pop-up events and markets.

  • Appointments usually run about 15 minutes long - although sometimes shorter if you are a quick decision maker.

  • Yes! Permanent jewelry is safe to wear through TSA checkpoints and metal detectors.

  • If you need an MRI you may be asked to remove your jewelry. You can use a pair of nail clippers, wire cutters, or even scissors, to remove your chain. Once your medical procedures are finished, you can visit us to have your chain re-welded at no charge!

  • Of course! The chains are meant to be lived in - you can swim, shower, sweat and sleep without fear of tarnishing.

  • Our favorite at-home way to remove a chain is with nail clippers! They are sharp, precise, and everyone has them. Scissors & wire cutters work, too!

When you remove your chain, try to clip on the welded link of your chain. If you cannot locate the welded link, you can clip anywhere on the chain to remove it.

Don’t forget to save your chain, we reweld at no charge!

  • Yes! Since gold and silver are soft metals, chains can stretch with time. Some chains stretch more than others, and how much it stretches is heavily dependent on your lifestyle.

We are proud to offer resizing at no charge.

  • At Gilded we do not weld chains as rings — simply because the chains do stretch and the rings become too loose.

Instead, we offer dainty stacking rings in gold filled and sterling silver.

  • Permanent jewelry is permanent in the sense that you cannot take it on and off. While it can last for years, it is not indestructible.

Please treat your chains with care in the same way that you would treat other fine jewelry.
